True to its name, The First Cabin Restaurant is reminiscent of an elegant dining room on a cruise liner and is a dining treasure here in Newport Beach. Inspired by Austrian-born Chef Josef Lageder and his culinary staff, only the season's freshest ingredients are used - including their specialty of steaks & seafood. The tantalizing menu reflects The Chef's innovative and fresh style.
The restaurant is located within The Balboa Bay Club & Resort and valet parking is provided for easy access to The First Cabin. On Friday and Saturday evenings live piano music softly plays favorite requests in The First Cabin from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. And for a nightcap, or after dinner aperitif, Duke's Place - the adjacent lounge - has nightly entertainment, which is rare to find among Newport Beach steak houses and restaurants. With an exceptional wine list recognized by Wine Spectator magazine, the dining room features over 600 wines, and offers 40 by the glass. The adjacent First Cabin Wine Bar is the perfect place to meet dinner guests and explore new wines prior to dinner. For intimate parties or wine tastings, there is a private dining room with seating for up to fourteen guests.
Our Newport Beach steak and seafood restaurant enjoys a coveted waterfront location overlooking the bay. Large picture windows and an outdoor terrace frame the views of sun-filled days, sailboats and romantic sunsets. The wait-staff are dressed in white Stewards jackets and exude a warm, yet refined elegance in their service to their guests. Tables are adorned with fresh flowers and white linen tablecloths with candles adding a touch of sophistication for the evening's ambiance. Throughout the day, the dining room evokes the mood and palette of the sky.
