Known as "Hollywood's Riviera," the club becomes a popular spot for celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and John Wayne, who make it their getaway for sailing, dining, and relaxation, cementing the club's glamorous reputation.

1960

Legendary crooner Frank Sinatra performs at the club for a private event, drawing media attention and reinforcing the Balboa Bay Club as a top destination for luxury and celebrity appeal on the West Coast.

1968

The Balboa Bay Club expanded with the addition of the Balboa Bay Resort, a luxury hotel designed to provide an elevated guest experience on the iconic Newport waterfront. In 2018, the resort earned its prestigious Forbes 4-star rating, solidifying its reputation for excellence. Alongside the resort, the Balboa Bay Spa was introduced, offering a range of high-end wellness treatments that quickly became a beloved feature among members and guests alike.

2010

The Balboa Bay Club hosts its 16th Annual Gentleman’s Smoker and Lobster Clam Bake on the California Riviera earning world-wide reputation. The event raised over $40,000 for the Balboa Bay Club Scholarship Fund and encouraged community leaders to come together in a fraternal atmosphere, building bonds or both business and friendship.

2023

The Balboa Bay Club celebrates its 75th anniversary with a series of special events, honoring its storied past and the vibrant community it has built.
